Apex High School / Apex Consolidated Sports Hall of Fame

Late last school year and thanks to the efforts of Athletic Director Del Phillips and a dedicated team of Apex High and Apex Consolidated faculty/staff, alumni, and volunteers the Apex High School/Apex Consolidated Sports Hall of Fame was born.

There will be much more information to follow in the coming weeks and as we near the start our final year here at the current Apex High School.

The committee is accepting nominations for the inaugural class of inductees throughout the month of July. This years inductees will be honored at halftime of the October 7, 2016 home football game against Fuquay-Varina.

The nomination form requires Adobe Acrobat (free) and can be completed online and saved to your computer (preferred) or you may print and complete it in by hand.  Once completed the form can be emailed (preferred) to Athletic Director Del Phillips, FAXed to 919-387-3023, or delivered to the Apex High School main office.

Apex Cougar Club Scholarship Application due May 5th!!!

** The Cougar Club Scholarship Application due May 5th, 2016 **

The Apex Cougar Club was established nearly twenty years ago with three primary objectives:

  1.  To provide financial support all athletic programs at Apex High School.
  2.  To generate a spirit of enthusiasm for these athletic programs within the Apex High School and its surrounding communities.
  3.  To promote interscholastic athletics as a means of improving the physical condition, enhancing the mental well being, and strengthening the moral fiber of the students of Apex High School.

In that spirit, we are pleased to announce the 2nd Annual Apex Cougar Club Scholarship.  We will award two, $1000 scholarships. One each to a male and female Apex High School Senior Athlete committed to continuing their education at a two- or four-year college or university. A Dancing King

By Olivia Hair, Apex Cougar Club AOIT Intern                                    August 30th

On the evening of August 28th, 2015 a star was born at the Apex High School Varsity football game vs. Wake Forest.

Luckily, I caught the star pre-fame, and he showed me a few of his tricks. Not only is Chase Graves an exceptional dancer, but he also seemingly defies Newton’s First Law with his football- balancing skills. I was thoroughly impressed.

Halftime rolled around and Chase prepared to conquer the Massage Envy Apex Beaver Creek “Envy of the Game” dance-off. Max Laing, a senior at Apex High School, proved a worthy opponent. With DJ Snake’s Get Low blasting, the crowd went wild for Chase’s moves. In a later interview with our winner, Chase credits his success to his mother’s advice to, “..move, and then just start dancing along!”

Thank you Massage Envy!

Our champion received a Massage Envy Apex Beaver Creek Gift Card. The Cougar Club offers a huge thank you to Massage Envy for their support of Apex High School athletics and giving our school the opportunity to be a part of their Envy of the Game dance-off!

In our interview following the big win, Chase mentioned that he is “gonna be a star one day”. There you have it folks; a high-school football game with an appearance by a future dance-star.
